Many patients managed with TrakCare are enrolled in clinical trials. Research assistants need access to trial participant EPR data and care providers need basic information about the trials their patients enrol in. TrakCare now facilitates easier integration for exchange of information with third party Clinical Trials Management Systems. New data fields capture information about Clinical Trials and Trial Branches and Clinical Pathway users can use this information to support selection of trial-based protocols.
Clinical Timelines:Â new component screens added to the Clinical Timeline Framework (introduced in T2021) that optimise display and interaction with specific types of patient data.
Â
• Administration Timeline facilitates administration of medications and the documentation of other tasks such as nursing activities. The user interface clearly highlights tasks that need to be completed and provides access to details without the need to navigate away from the timeline.
• Event Timeline provides quick access to information about the patient’s journey in a graphical representation. Bars and icons provide high level, easy to interpret, overview while next level information can be accessed using pop-over and labels without needing to leave the timeline.
• Pathways Timeline presents a comprehensive view of Clinical Pathways in the context of the larger patient story. Clinicians can quickly see all pathways for their patient displayed in a graphical longitudinal format as well as a variety of additional clinical information on other Timeline Items. The status of the Clinical Pathway and details of each pathway item is readily accessible.
Doctor Reports for TrakCare Lab Enterprise (TCLE) now support inclusion of Test Set results displayed in graphical form.

Medication Reconciliation is a best practice process where a patient's medications are reviewed by healthcare professionals, usually during transitions of care.
In TrakCare the Medication Reconciliation process starts with recording the Medication History at admission time. The medication history act as the basis for all the subsequent reconciliation events. Both Proactive Reconciliation "Medication Planning" and Retroactive Reconciliation "Medication Reconciliation" are supported. The healthcare organization decides which of following Medication Reconciliation Types they wish clinicians to use
Â
• Admission Planning
• Admission Reconciliation
• Discharge Planning
• Discharge Reconciliation
• Transfer PlanningÂ
• Transfer Reconciliation "Under Development"
Â
The Medication Dosing Model provides detailed directions for medications with complex dosage regimens. The Dosing Model Cycle is now supported for Medication History, Medication Reconciliation and Medication Planning.
New Clinical Pathway Timeline provides a graphical view of all Clinical Pathways a patient is enrolled in. The ability to document details about clinical trials a patient is enrolled and available to help screen pathway selection and to facilitate integration with 3rd party Clinical Trial Management products.
Preventative healthcare consists of measures taken for disease prevention. A Preventative Care Module has been created in TrakCare to support these activities that leverages the Clinical Pathway capabilities for scheduling and planning patient care. In this release we introduce the core configuration for the Preventative Care Module as well as front end support for Primary Prevention via Vaccination workflows including those for Schedule Creation, Ordering, Administration and Documentation of patient Vaccination history.
Managing the logistics of transferring lab specimens to testing locations where specimens must pass through an interim location before reaching the final test destination is now supported. The use of new Delivery Status and 'Final Lab'' Destination combinations enable a shipment container to be scanned for a second pickup to the final destination location without the need to unpack and repack specimen containers.
Outpatients
 • Clinicians can now indicate the desired date for a follow-up appointment without having to book the required appointment. New fields allow the required follow-up date to be added to the initial appointment details or when an Outcome is being entered for the appointment. Search fields allow clerical staff to easily identify appointments that need a follow-up booked.
 • Telehealth has become an important communication and treatment tool during the COVID-19 pandemic. An option to flag an appointment as Telehealth with new integration to generate online meeting for a telehealth appointment is now available.
 • Patient flow and throughput can be improved using a new 'Ready to be Seen' flag on the OP Worklist
Â
Inpatients
 • Inpatient throughput and bed utilisation can be optimised with the ability to view real-time bed availability when undertaking preadmission booking activities.
 • Discerning bed availability and managing occupancy is easier with the ability to filter patients from Ward Lists based on assigned Episode Sub-type
 • Ward Summary now identifies Approved/Funded beds and Boarders
Â
Emergency
 • Patients can now be admitted/moved from an Emergency Episode to a Ward location for short term observation under controlled conditions. This helps hospitals with Emergency Department or other acute care areas that are unable to accommodate the volume of patients
Medication Management
 • When an admixture unit is manufactured for a specific patient it is associated with that patient in terms of stock movements, billing, administration details etc. If the original patient subsequently is unable to receive the prepared medication this could result in waste of medication and resources. To reduce such wastage TrakCare now supports Manufactured Container Reassignment enabling the transfer of a prepared admixture to another patient when deemed appropriate
 • Warfarin Therapy Management. A new questionnaire brings together information needed to support the management of warfarin therapy
Operating Theatre
 • In addition to Theatre Lists, Surgeons or Anaesthetists typically have Outpatient Clinics for Pre-Admission appointments or Aesthetic consultations and may work in multiple hospitals. To avoid conflicting time bookings, a check is now available at the time of a) booking a procedure for the Main Surgeon or Anaesthetist care provider and b) booking an appointment where care provider is the resource. If a conflict exists a message will notify the user
 • Deferred Treatment Reason. Sometimes surgery is cancelled even though the patient has already been admitted to Hospital. The surgery will need to be re-booked for a future date and managed via the waiting list. In such circumstances the reason for theatre cancellation can now be recorded and will flow through to the discharge screen where it will trigger the wait list time to be re-calculated (if set to do so) ensuring such patients can be served as soon as possible
 • All Waiting List Access. Co-ordinating services such as transportation and interpretation for patient's when they are on multiple waiting lists or have multiple procedures required against a waiting list entry is now easier. Staff can quickly view all waiting lists for a patient from the Theatre List and when processing waiting list entries to help ensure all necessary procedures and services can be provided at the same visit wherever possible
 • Billing scenarios where charges are based on incremental surcharges are better supported with an additional field on the anaesthetic record that displays the duration from arrival to ready to depart recovery
 • The ability to process and time-manage OT Requests from other departments is enhanced with new functionality to specify target wait times (based on assigned priority of the booking) and then track this in the OT
Â
Maternity
 • Additional fields on the Contact Details screen enable recording of Personal and Professional    contacts as part of the maternity record.
 • The logic for when to automatically close a pregnancy event versus when future pregnancy related outpatient appointments should be cancelled has been refined such that they are no longer mutually dependant
It is now faster to complete clinical documentation using Encounter Record. A new functionality called 'Action Groups' allows clinicians to select all the care activities (Actions) they wish to complete from pre-configured options (defined in the Action Group) and seamlessly complete the whole series without needing to Update between each Action. When all selected Actions are completed the activity is automatically documented in the Encounter Entry. This supports the timely completion of a commonly required series of care activities e.g. all activities needed as part of a new inpatient admission.
Icons now display against individual Encounter Record Entry Actions to indicate when the Action has been completed and the corresponding text representation is available in the Entry e.g. a recommended assessment has been completed.
The calculation of Fluid Output (e.g. from a drain) now includes incremental volume making it easier for clinicians to track output over variable time periods on the Fluid Balance Chart
The Dose Calculation used to derive prescribed medication dose is now available for clinicians to view on the medication administration screen.
Specifying 'Laterality' for Order Items that require it is now supported via structured data input and Laterality is included in the Order Line providing greater visibility.
There is now greater flexibility and ease of use in terms of how new operating theatre bookings from either inpatient or outpatient settings can be linked to an existing or new Outpatient or Inpatient Episode. A new OT Request workflow with Episode list works in conjunction with existing parameters to drive new episode logic while also allowing manual selection of linking Episode.
Â
It is now possible to configure TrakCare to exclude the display of certain diagnosis in the Diagnosis Illness Profile (EPR chart) based on 'Type' of diagnosis. This means any diagnosis that exists only for the purpose of e.g. medical record coding will not clutter the clinical record unnecessarily.
Â
Staff working at any laboratory location (multi-facility/multi-lab organisation) can now view a patient's test item history for episodes from all locations. Previously this was restricted by configuration. A new access profile lab access rule setting, "View Cumulative Results and Test Item History" provides the privilege.
Navigating and locating information in list screens by grouping, filtering, and sorting similar information has been enhanced and extended. It is easier to identify which list options have been applied (Grouped By, Sorted By, Filtered) and filtering by date is also supported. Both Default Grouping (by configuration) and personalised selection by the user are supported.
Â
Emergency Departments can now print patient lists directly from the ED Enquiry screen. This can be useful when dealing with mass casualty events or other scenarios when circumstances make it impossible to be mobile with TrakCare.
Clinicians can now save as a personal preference the order items they wish to have automatically included (selected by default) for a given Order Set at the time of Ordering.
Diagnosis Lookup's throughout TrakCare now include the Dynamic Favourites feature providing all staff that need it with quick access to a list of their most entered Diagnosis.
The ability to prescribe and administer medications quickly from Flowsheets using pre-configured buttons has been enhanced providing better clarity, ease of use and improved safety. New filtering options based on generic drug, additional display of warnings, and the choice of either marking an order as administered immediately or entering administration details later are supported.
eReferrals that require recurrent appointments to be booked can now be processed more easily using the Flexi-book Recurrent Appointment Grid. The required recurrent service details can be added to the referral before the booking is made.
New search and navigation options on Payment Reference Workbench make it easier to manage deposits.
More powerful and flexible 'search' available for selecting Procedures for theatre bookings.
A new Action menu against OT Booking makes it faster and easier to locate details about booked surgical procedures (OT Booking Details), planned patient admission (Admission Details) and specific needs of the surgical team (Surgeon/Anaesthetist preferences) in MEUI.
Nurse Manufacture workflows in MEUI can now be completed in a single screen and with less clicks needed.
Completing multiple processing tasks against the same patient, lab episode, or specimen in the laboratory is now easier because the last 5 most recently used Patient Registration (URN), Lab Episode and Specimen numbers are saved (for the current logged on session) and can be quickly recalled to the respective search fields thus eliminating the need to re-enter the unique identifiers.
Access Profiles allow organisations to configure access rules and restrictions for lab sites and departments. A new Access Profile Copy function allows existing configuration to be copied to one or more new lab sites ensuring consistency of restrictions and access rules across the organisation saving much time.
Test Set Alternative Profiles. A new Test Set child code table called "Profiles" allows laboratories to use a condensed Test Set library while at the same time tailoring the contents of a test set to individual contracts and agreements with referring providers. The 'Profiles' function allows customization of the test items displayed and reported in a Test set based on selected registration criteria with further customization options also available. Where the registration data matches configuration criteria, the alternate profile is applied and only the Test Items marked as Active for the profile will be displayed in Lab Result Entry or scheduled on instruments. An interactive icon informs users when an Alternative Test Set Profile is active and allows editing if required.
• TCLE Transfers screen - layout optimised, new display defaults, time indicators in list
• Doctor Report Graphs - new configuration to control test set items to be graphed by default. Permit end-user to alter default items for specific lab episode
• Specimen Label Printing - Labels for all specimens listed in the Collection screen can be printed in a single action. A new Print Button supports printing before or after specimen collection
• Intra-operative Record / Pathology Specimen - new fields expand documentation of specimen type, number, comments and intended lab destination for testing

Support for cash payment transactions is enhanced with ability to record the count of denomination notes and coins for Cashier Shift Opening and Closing.
The logic for checking consent prior to automatically sending SMS messages to patients based on Active Decision Support Visual Rules has been extended and now checks consent at appointment, episode, and patient level.
• The ability to quickly prescribe and administer medications from Flowsheets using pre-configured buttons has been enhanced providing better clarity, ease of use and improved safety. New filtering options based on generic drug, additional display of warnings, and the choice of either marking an order as administered immediately or entering administration details later are now supported
• The ability to amend prescribed admixture solvent and/or volume during manufacture of the admixture (when TrakCare or Integrated Stock is ON) can now be prevented via configuration The system can be configured to calculate the concentration and fluid balance using the exact ordered volume instead of the Stock pack volume and there are new alerts no notify the ordering provider and nurse when a selected stock is unable to deliver the ordered volume
• It is now possible to define the maximum permitted PRN dose for a specified number of hours. This is useful for medications with a non-linear dose versus time relationship. Previously only maximum PRN dose over a 24hr period could be defined
• TrakCare's Advanced Dosing' (formerly known as Calculate Dose) now supports better management of medications whose dosing is dependent on certain patient clinical parameters and facilitates point of administration decision making about required dose e.g. sliding scale type orders. Dose Protocols can be added as a Note or attachment link to the order and prescribers specify relevant clinical parameters (observations and lab results) and the upper/lower bounds of the dose. All required information is available at the point of administration to minimize any potential for miscalculation. This functionality also enhances weight-based dosing
• Medication Reconciliation and Planning - See 'Improve service delivery by connecting and coordinating care section' above
• Entering a variance reason when medications are administered to a patient later than the planned time window can now be optionally configured as mandatory
• Information provided to nurses regarding the volumes and amounts of ingredients to be used in the manufacture of an ordered medication admixture is now presented in a more simplified yet precise and direct instructional view removing the need for extensive manipulation
• Organisations can now set maximum prescription duration limits for medications under certain conditions in line with hospital policies that do not allow discharge and outpatient medications to be prescribed with an ongoing duration
• Second signature fields on Order Details and Order Discontinue screens record necessary authority and improve traceability when orders are given verbally
Prevent unintended documentation in discharged/completed Episodes with enhanced logic to make EPR and Encounter Records Read Only
The handling and display of information entered in error and subsequently corrected (e.g. added to the wrong patient or incorrect data) has been standardised across Patient Alerts, Clinical Notes, Observations and Care Events to align with best practice

A message now notifies users when a new questionnaire is partially pre-populated with data copied (defaulted in) from the most recently completed identical questionnaire for that patient
New configuration options make it possible to prevent the addition of an antibiotic or antibiotic panel during lab Result Entry if the organism does not have a clinically relevant antibiotic/antibiotic panel defined. Configuration also restricts the selection of antibiotic/antibiotic panel to only those that are clinically relevant for the test organism
'Instruments Events' in the laboratory (e.g. a re-calibration) can now be recorded as occurring against a specific test item, all test items in a set, or no test items.
8 Episode Events that can be triggered by an Active Decision Support Visual Rule (in TCLE) are now included in the Episode Event Audit Table.
TrakCare now supports partial vials usage during admixture manufacture and allows the contents of a vial to fulfil orders for more than a single patient. This development decreases wastage while maintaining full traceability and auditing over batches consumed.
New fields in the Intraoperative Record Discrepancies section support Surgical/Operative Count records.
'Break the Glass' functionality is used to gain access to a patient's record in an emergency where the users normal access permissions would otherwise have prevented it. It is now possible to enforce countersigning by second user and entry of an authorizing clinician before gaining Break the Glass access.
